Grindhouse "greatest hits"
When Grindhouse came out, Tarentino listed his eight all-time grindhouse faves. I thought someone else might be interested. They are as follows:
Blood Feast (1963) Gordon Herschell Lewis gorefest about depraved human sacrifices.
Zombie (1964) Better known as I Eat Your Skin--released in 1970 on a double bill with I Drink Your Blood (which I thought was much better).
Vanishing Point (1971) Cult car chase flick starring Barry Newman--I didn't like it (mainly because of the ending), but the nude hippie chick made the flick worth sitting through.
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974) Peter Fonda and Susan George--I thoiught they were both obnoxious.
Black Christmas (1974) QT shows the original to his pals every Xmas--I tried to watch it on DVD--very frustrated--bad disk and I STILL don't know how the damn thing ended.
Rolling Thunder (1977) QTs favorite vengeance movie--William Devane, Viet vet, wreaks havoc on those who killed his family.
Dawn of the Dead (1978) Okay, we all know about this one, right?
Escape from New York (1981) Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken in a grim futuristic thing featuring--rats, I can't recall his name--the guy in Repo Man. . . . .
Anyway, that is the list, and I can FINALLY chuck the newspaper I have been toting around since April 13.

Harry Dean Stanton. He also played Brett (dude that goes looking for the cat before getting eaten) in the original Alien movie.

Escape from New York was a grindhouse flick? Never would of thought.
It's definitely my favourite out of that list.

I haven't seen any of those
I need to go look for them... Do you know if they're available on DVD?

No Troma on the list? The Toxic Avenger is better than at least 3 of those movies.

In San Francisco, theres an "Escape from New York Pizza" on Haight street. Good fucking pizza, too. And yeah, its definetly a grindhouse movie. Its got the bad acting, the stupid plot, the violence, everything you'd expect in a grindhouse film. Great movie too.

Re: Grindhouse "greatest hits"
I've seen three of those. Obviously Escape from New York, Dawn of the Dead, and Vanishing Point.
Rolling Thunder sounds cool though.

Point taken. Toxie rocks. I think it was made too recently to qualify as a grindhouse movie, however.
