Sam, if you liked that stuff you should check out some newer songs like, 'Starlight', 'Take a Bow', and 'Invincible'. Also, you can't go wrong with the classic 'Plug in Baby'.
Eh... don't listen to Starlight if you're looking for guitar.

And how can anybody think he has shitty vocals? I don't think people can handle a guy singing that high for some reason.

thats what they mean by tore up the rule book. they dont mean all his songs were the most amazing and everyone will love them.they mean that he played guitar like no one else.

just like eddie van halen. now a days its pretty tough to find someone play something on guitar that no one else has done before.

Does that mean revolutionary guitarists should be fewer than before? Maybe. That's not supposed to be an excuse, just an interesting thought. Will guitar get boring? Maybe in the future our children's children will look back at guitar as a novelty.

Ok, I was wrong. A revolutionary guitarist he isn't. But I like the way he sounds better than anybody else. For me, it's kind of like how Tom Morello tries to be a DJ more than a guitarist (his words, not mine)... except Matt doesn't play up and down the low e-string all the time.

I personally find his singing quite annoying, it sounds like he's trying to sing and having his toe nails ripped off at the same time. Although I do quite enjoy "Knights of Cydonia" though, his voice sounds kinda cool in that.

yea, i think they are fewer. the more people who play guitar, the less creative it becomes i think, because everyones got distortion pedals, and wah pedals, and multi effects, and can play a nice acoustic song, can solo a crazy guitar solo.

but there are less people coming up with really new things i think.

someone would need to do something really strange on the guitar for me to think they are particularly special.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02sSYje3QwM&NR=1

just watched this video on youtube of the band in question. i definitely dont think he is anything special, ive heard stuff like that before.

he's just another good guitar player.

Well its not the high pitches, its just the way he sings any of the pitches. ITs like someone doing a combination of a bad impersonation of David Bowie and Freddie Mercury combined but not in a genuine way.

Meh... well I can see why you would think that if you're talking about Knights of Cydonia and Citizen Erased. Stockholm Syndrome, however, I think is a bit different. However, 'a bit different' for a rabid fan is pretty much the same for anybody else.

I likes this thread.
