Everything *NIX IRC Support Channel
A new channel has been created for Everything *NIX.
It is in no way directly affiliated with Totse.com or it's subsidaries nor do SlashNET.org nor Totse.com have any legal binding agreements. It is a community service.
The new channel is at:
Server: irc.slashnet.org
Port: 6667
Channel: #E*NIX
If you find you have some difficulties with *NIX, or need general assistance and/or simple suggestions or troubleshooting help, join the channel. There are currently two of us connected as of this posting.
Thanks. Have a nice day.

Re: Everything *NIX IRC Support Channel
There are 4 people in there if you count both of me...
I'm almost always logged in but not necessarily at the computer. If I am around though, I'm always willing to help someone with linux. IRC makes it a LOT easier to walk users through fixing their problems.

Re: Everything *NIX IRC Support Channel
Sometimes you can get NIX assistance in my channel on the same server, #codelove. That is, if I am around and feel like helping you.
It's a coding channel though, not really a tech support channel.
Your best bet is probably to talk to (aut|bi)opsy though, because he's more inclined to be helpful and patient than I am. Similarly, you'll probably get better help on the boards than on irc.
If you're a coder though, or have any interest in becoming one, we welcome all range of abilities and all range of languages. (Yes, even .NET).

This is hardly true. With IRC you have real-time communication, on the forum there is an extended amount of time in which one waits for a response or output from something or someone about something, which makes it unbearable for "strange" problems.
The purpose of the channel is to allow a secondary medium in which to get support which requires IRC real-time communication.

All I meant is that there will be more people reading your post than you'd be talking to on IRC.

Ahh, right.
I can plainly see how the amount of people is directly related to the quality of support you would get.
Thanks man, I knew I should have always listened to programmers with the logic in which you display.

I don't know where the hostility is coming from, but the logic I've presented is the logic of the entire Open Source Initiative, BiOPSY. More eyes and ears means more angles considered, more bugs found, more problems solved.
I don't really want to argue over this, it was a minor point; I'm sorry I've offended you somehow. Everyone knows you're willing to sit down and work with someone, but since you aren't available 24/7 to anyone who needs help, it might be good for them to make a post as well. Exposure is never a bad thing, nor are multiple opinions.
