I think the government should drug test everyone that wants welfare/food stamps. Maybe we'd see less hood rats at grocery stores buying piles of junk food and purple drink with their food stamp debit cards. When it's time to score bud, 40s, blunts, and newports the cash comes out. Of course people would bitch saying the drug testing aims to hurt disadvantaged minorites.

While an interesting idea, it would never go into effect. One could blame their past on their addiction, and the government would not let people starve due to drug problems.

So what about the kids of coke heads? They suffer even more (no more welfare check) b/c there parents are idiots. They already have to deal with shitty parents, but now they would have to deal with hunger.

Maybe food stamps should only apply to healthy but cheap & basic foods, and not toward cigarettes/alcohol. If people want junk food and fancier food then they would have incentive to work.

I think it's misguided to blame the people who are on welfare for it's abuses, and that the problems really stem from the system itself. Perhaps the system should have more oversight, and have strict limitations and ultimatums in order to recieve state benefits.

Perhaps a debit card that can only be used to buy essentials is in order.

I think if a parent's neglectful enough to fail their drug test and let their kids starve they should lose the kids. Simple enough answer to that particular problem.

Drug testing welfare users is a great idea, but there has to be plenty of other stuff included to get any kind of effect out of this plan.

Or make it so that the system only helps people who are actually out of work and looking for employment and people who work full-time, but don't make enough to make ends meet.
