Virtually all Arab Muslims are Semites, most Jews on the other hand are not. The term Semitic of course refers to the ethnic groups which trace their lineage back to Noah's son Shem. Arabs are generally considered to have descended from Ismael, who was a Semite; however, most Jews today are the descendants of Khazars who converted to Judaism en masse around AD 700. There's no evidence to suggest that the Khazars descend from Shem.

While you for once ARE correct, you're also incorrect.

The word "anti-Semitism" was coined in Germany in 1879 by Wilhelm Marr as a more euphonious way of saying "Judenhass" (Jew-hatred), and has always meant exactly that. Its antonym, "Semitism" connoted a positive attitude toward the Jewish people. The word has become too sanitized and too easily misunderstood, which is exactly what Marr tried to accomplish with the word's creation.

Prior to Marr, this word didn't exist. He invented it for the sole purposes of drumming up hate, such as this.
