Default can people really do anything if they put their mind to it?

like i know a paraplegic cant ride a bike.
the question is not in the literal sense.

situation:
my judge is encouraging me to go to college. i do want to go to college, not for the education but for the experience. she also wants be to get a job, i want money, but i dont want a job.

my judge says i can do anything if i put my mind to it, but my whole life i never really have been able to do something i didnt want to do. like get a job and pass classes.

i can only do things i WANT to do. its nearly impossible to force my self to do something i dont want to do no matter whats at risk (diploma).

so am i just making excuses or is this a real problem for some people?

like is it my fault or is it something in my genes? has it been studied and/or proved to be a real psychological "disorder"?

"disorder" probably isnt the right word, but i think you all will know what i mean.

Don't shove it off to: "This is the way I am, I can't help it" or "Its who I am, its my genes". It might be true but people can change. There isn't a strand of DNA telling you not to want change or not to want to do anything you don't want too. That's all in that grey mass of yours. Those ideas got stuck in there probably quite a while ago and never left. It's easy to be lazy and not give a damn about things.

First you have to have a dream. What you want for yourself, what you want to achieve. They say nothing can come without having a dream first. And that having a dream visualized is like being half way there. Then you need to know what the rest of the way is. Is that a job? Or maybe education? The judge just wants you to lead atleast a moderate live. Noble of him/her indeed but by no means appealing. Dreamless people aren't that appealing to start with anyways.

"When you put your mind to it"- Does that mean putting yourself in a state of mind?

I don't think by putting yourself in a state of mind you can achieve your goals; not everything is in our hands.

You sound like you're on the direct path to becoming a lazy bum/hobo. Get some enthusiasm for life. You're never going to make it in life with that attitude. I know that sounds like something an annoying teacher or authority figure would say, but it's just common sense, it's the truth.

I used to think like you back when I was younger. I was always thought "Eh, I'll just go out to the forest, start a farm, and live like that so I could just live life the way I want to and not worry about anything." but it's really not that easy. You always need a lot of money to start off for the ride, the land, etc. and you need a job for that shit.

Life gets hard when you turn 18. I remember the day I graduated from High School my mom kicked me out of the house.

As soon as you're old and shit, your parents nor the world is going to give a shit.

Take my advice and don't be so damn negative, you can do anything you want, just keep yourself motivated.

What you can try doing is something like "Ok, if I finish this task, I'll reward myself with _____" I usually reward myself with weed, but that's just my thing, you try something of your own. Also, try to get like a buddy to spot you on your goals, to keep you focused on the right things, and stay away from negative people, they will only drag you down to the dirt.
