Mena, Arkansas
Tons of cocaine were flown into the airport in Mena, Arkansas by Barry Seal, a CIA operative, and possibly others. Barry was immune to prosectution due to his connections in the George Bush White House and the CIA. Meanwhile, the governor of the state of Arkansas, Bill Clinton, rose from relative obscurity to become President of the United States. We'll probably never know the full story of what happened in Mena, but what we do know is incredible.

Operation Red Rock |
by Stew Webb |
| The "Contragate" years teem with well documented accounts of illicit wholesale gun running and dope smuggling. The expose series published in Autumn 1996 by the San Jose Mercury Post, entitled the "Dark Alliance," openly finger-points at the CIA and the Reagan administration for turning a blind-eye to massive Cocaine smuggling. Moreover, the series of articles claim that the explosion of "crack Cocaine" in Los Angeles resulted entirely from the Contra leaders-cum-dope peddlers who made vast personal fortunes from their activities. Today, the official argument remains that the Contra's were "freelancing" without the knowledge or consent of their CIA "handlers" or North's so called "Enterprise." |

| Barry Seal - gunrunner, drug trafficker, and covert C.I.A. operative extraordinaire - is hardly a familiar name in American politics. But nine years after he was murdered in a hail of bullets by Medellin cartel hit men outside a Salvation Army shelter in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he has come back to haunt the reputations of three American presidents.

The Mena Airport: Why Arkansas's Biggest Mystery Won't Die |
by Mara Leveritt |
| First there was the investigation, the expectation of indictments-- and, to the amazement of many, the inaction. The plot thickened in 1986, when discovery of the Iran-Contra affair also revealed shadowy connections between Oliver North's gun-running operation to the Nicaraguan Contras and what appeared to be
government-protected drug activity taking place at Mena. |
