First of all you have your mark, a trusted friend or your own box I would hope and you have his IP address.... If you were just curious enough to wonder what file and printer sharing is... you'd be in a deep load of shit that's why our schools have to have a shit load of security and they still suck Michael Jackson's small balls.
Well take the IP address and with your tremendous DOS skills type:
nbtstat -A 255.255.255.255
... or what ever the IP address is, If it says host not found your mark doesn't have printer and file sharing enabled.
Another way to see if it is open is scan the IP with a port scanner and if port 139 is open it is enabled.
Now there is a file called Lmhosts it is not an exe or a bat or any thing of that order just open it in text format. Scroll down to bottom of the window and hit tab and type the host hit tab then type 255.255.255.255 or what ever the IP is and save it as Lmhosts back again.
Then go to find computer and enter the IP address 255.255.255.255 into it and your basically in. Now you can browse files on your computer from a remote place have fun. You can also check to see if Net Bios is activated on your computer by typing:
nbtstat -A [your IP address]
If it says Host <20> UNIQUE Registered then you need to go to the control panel then network and internet connections setup or change your home or small office network then disable file in printer sharing, and of course have fun.
