The definitive guide to being an Azlumic Monk of t

Moebius presents... October 2, 1995

//////////////////////////////////////////
- The Temple of the Ethereal Sun -
//////////////////////////////////////////

As related through the vision of the ages

-I walked out of the oppressive cave to see what could only be the
one true Heaven around me. Mist curled sensually around the mountains
which loomed in the inmeasurable distances which my eyes could pierce
after the perceptual blindness that I was tortured with in the cave.
As I surveyed the plain I noticed that the plants which grew
around me looked strange. They appeared not green, but obsidian. At
first this puzzled me but then I realized that they were the rare moonglow
flowers which didn't feed off the sun.
Since my mind had turned to the subject of sunlight I searched the
sky for the giver of light. By accident I happened to stare directly into
the face of the sun and realized that I felt no discomfort or pain. As if
in some lucid dream, the sun reached out to me and I heard a voice in my
head.
"Save us," the voice faded out with a sad sounding sigh.
I hiked through the relaxing and beautiful plain for about a hour.
As I climbed over a steep hill it came into view. The Temple loomed above me,
I had to avert my eyes for all the glory and grandeur that shone outwards
from the Temple.
Entering the huge doors, I saw for the first time the insides of
all the glory that the world has to offer. Monks in simple cloaks lined
the golden walls which extended so far upwards that my eyes couldn't see
the roof. The only thing I ever learned about the roof was that there was
a window cut into it becuase the Ethereal Sun shone directly through that
window to illuminate the entire main room indefinately. There was no night
or day where the Ethereal Sun shone, only pure bliss forever.
I walked towards a circular table in the front of the main room. The
monks followed and sat in chairs around me. They raised their hands and arms
so that it appeared that they were reaching for each other but no physical
connection occurred. Soon an ectoplasmic mist gathered and joined the gaps
between the monks. A singular voice boomed through the temple around me.
"You are welcome. We are the guardians of the Ethereal Suns. May
their light shine upon your third eye for all eternity. We know you have
come here in search of answers and knowledge. In return for our knowledge, you
will aide us in a quest."
I agreed to the proposition. In the following days they taught me,
through telepathy, the many secrets they possessed. These secrets I cannot pass
on to you, not in this form. You see they told me TRUTHS which are too powerful
to simply put on paper for all to use and abuse.
At the end of my education they told me of the quest. One of the monks
who actually communicated verbally without telepathic connection took me to
a clear crystal that sat upon a pedastal. As I looked into the orb, a picture
formed before my eyes. First, I saw a beautiful Ethereal Sun. Then a shadow
moved into view. An evil man who looked to be some sort of wizard. He walked
towards the sun and faded away. In a moment the sun flickered and erupted. Phantom
flames fell from the sky and the Ethereal Sun was raped and killed by this man.
Afterwards the monks told me that I would need to find the mightiest,
cleverest, and most powerful souls to aide them in destroying the corrupt wizard
before all the Ethereal Suns were destroyed.-

Yes, the Ethereal Suns are being destroyed by a dark, evil, and powerful sorcerer. The
Temple of the Ethereal Sun is the last surviving stronghold of defense for the
suns. However, on the many material planes Azlumic converts are joining the ranks
of the monks of the Temple in order to preserve spirituality and counter the
madman's moves. They are helping to rally the fledging Knyghts as they appear
to aid in killing the sorcerer.

Monks are the more spiritual side of the followers of Azlum. They protect and
learn from the Ethereal Suns. They practice telepathic summergence. They completely
open their minds and completely join both mentally and physicaly with other
monks. Some have even gone so far as to take vows of silence except for this
almost sexually joining.

In our context, becoming a monk isn't like what you are used to seeing on T.V.
There are no vows of chastity (yea, right) or silence. You simply embrace the
beauty of the Ethereal Suns rather than the glory and rage of the Knyghts.

Of course, to be a follower of Azlum you needn't be either a monk or a knyght.
If you believe, that is enough.
