Well thats more of an idea pertaining to religion then God. God is not bound to religion, but I see what you mean.

True. I also think death played a role. Most religions have some kind of afterlife involved. Maybe the thought of death was so intimidating and mind-boggling that they had to deny it.

According to Indian religeons we are now in the age of something called "Kali Yuga". This means we are in the age of hypocrisy and confusion (Which is pretty much self evident if you look at the world).

Ages and ages ago life was much more simple. Perhaps it wasn't easy but it wasn't anywhere near as complicated. The experience of god was much more widespread. Minds weren't pumped full of the kind of bullshit they are today, so back then people had the clarity to see god much of the time.

When you're mentally relaxed your consciousness alters and you see things that you wouldn't normally see. The more relaxed, the higher state of consciouness you have, the more beauty you can see in life. Life is beautiful because it's perfect.

Art can't be perfect by accident. Life is a peice of artwork. It's perfect because it was created by god, a perfect consciousness.

The only thing in life that isn't beautiful is the ignorance of the human race, but that ignorance arises from our distance from our own godliness. The closer we get to god the more beautiful we become.

You can look at people, see ignorant people, and see wise people. Wise people are always more attractive to look at and listen to.

Anyway I say the idea of god came about because people used to experience god much much more. Now it's only a few people (in comparison) that experience god.

dont know too much about the indians but didnt alot of them starve themselves for days or use powerful halucinatory drugs

They starved themselves to have visions, which they believed were spirits and believed to bring wisdom. As for the drugs, Indians actually respected plants that brought hallucinagenic(sp?) effects, and didn't abuse them like our society. This too was believed to bring visions from spirits and would give them wisdom. It probably did if that was the mindset they had first using them. Plus, I think he was talking about Indian religions from the India, not american Indians, but Indian Indians(stupid phrasing) used marijuana for medicinal purposes.
