I went to a funeral today...

and frankly, it made me sick.

The deceased had been a Christian reverend. You know how when you go to church, you always get the 'Come to God or else' message? The reverend delivering the message managed to take it and twist it into that. He spent the entire time telling us how you should come to God because thats what he (dead guy) would have wanted. It was disgusting.

The worst part was the people there. I was at the funeral for a friend, shes 17. A lot of her friends were there as well. They seemed to see the entire thing as one giant social event. Ever been in a theatre when a group of teens comes in? Know that thing they do where they all sit down, then spend ten minutes rearranging so that they get to sit next to who they wanted to? They spent quite a while doing that. Then, the reception afterward. They got in a circle and sat there talking about makeup and clothes. They sat there telling eachother about what they were wearing, and how they call had so much trouble finding the right clothes. One girl was even dressed in one of those low shirts with the bra straps showing out the top.

Now, dont get my wrong, I dont at all expect everyone to come in, sit down, cry, and leave. But I would think people would at least show a little respect to the dead by not dressing like whores, or maybe just being there for the deceased and not for the social interaction.
