read this message i read online and tell me what is the point of argueing over religion?
The words in the bible might be the words of the messiah. But are the words themselves more important than the message behind them? Are the literal interpretations of the words, human forms of communication more important than the spiritual message that tells us to love, forgive, and accept each other? If god is all-powerful, all loving, and all understanding, do you really think he would be so nitpicky as to judge a man by his interpretation of a few words in a book? Jehovah’s witnesses are quick to point out the fact that the word trinity does not appear in the old or New Testament. But why does it matter? Do you really think that god will want us to argue over something as trivial as that? If he does, he is unworthy of our worshipping. Most of the different branches of Christianity split due to political and economical reasons. The Church of England was formed because the king wanted an annulment; many German states accepted Lutheranism because it allows them to confiscate Catholic Church lands. So why would the differences in religion ever be a source of friction, if we all believe in the same idea of a god who makes us feel protected, who give our lives a purpose, a meaning. Do you really think god would be happy if you “converted a pagan” today? If you fought for him? No, God does not care. Only you do, and you are using god as an excuse for your own wrongdoings. So do things God’s way today, lead by God’s example, whoever your God may be. Make this world a better place, as God would have done, by never acting out of hate, but always love.
