There are a few Discordian texts on the main site but I love spreading the word so here goes.
The world is a joke. If you've ever listened to the song 'Always look on the bright side of life' I'm sure you'll agree.
The world was constructed by our Goddess and our Goddess is the biggest joke of all.

The paradox of omnipotency and omnibenevolencey still haunts philiosophers and theologians. Bishops say 'Hey look, we have free will' but that doesn't quite cut it. According to the Bible, God put proper effort into building the Earth - and being omniscient 'He' must have know exactly what was going to happen.
He knowingly condemned us to existance with death, disease and general evil.
For a chaoist metaphor: God effectively dropped an anvil on a cat and then blamed it on gravity. Just as 'He' blames it on free-will now.
A Discoridan would be more happy with this interpretation - Our holy Goddess Eris shut her eyes and gathered all the energy, ever in a ball and threw it out into the open - jsut for a bit of fun. KAblam. We have lift-off.

The story of the Golden Apple.
Many of you may know the Greek myth about Paris, Hera and Aphrodite. Well if you don't this is how it goes (this is why we Hail Eris).
One day the Gods and Goddesses were having a dinner party on Mt. Olympus. Poor little Eris was not allowed to attend because she caused so much chaos whenever she was anywhere.
This pissed her off. So our Countess of Comedy got a golden apple and wrote the word 'Kallisti' on it. That means 'to the most pretty on'. Then she lobbed the apple into the middle of the dinner party.
2 Goddesses immediately claimed the apple as theirs - Hera (Queen of the Gods) and Aphrodite (Goddess of Love). They squabbled and the Gods couldn't decide between them.
So they went down to earth and got a charming young man called Paris to judge the competition. Hera tried to bribe him with Power, offering him all the power he could imagine. Aphrodite bribed him with love, offering him the most beautiful girl on earth.
Paris chose Aphrodite.
