After he was resurrected and appeared to the two women in the tomb, what the hell happened afterwards? Did he hang around for a few years then just vanish in a puff of smoke? Did he do more teachings? Where the hell did he go?

He hung out with the disciples, Thomas was like, "No way! My Lord, and my God!" And then Jesus instructed them to evagelize the world and said, "I will be with you even to the very end of the age." Then He ascended to heaven.

So basically over a billion people base their religion on the accounts of 11 people.

Hehe. Actually you've got Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, and Peter. The writings of Thomas, Judas, and Mary are all considered heretic writings (as they don't paint the pretty picture of Jesus everyone likes). Or maybe it was because the early Gnostic and Arian movements liked them (I'm not sure).

Plus, the odds are great (despite what fundamentalists claim) that the gospels weren't actually written by the apostles themselves, but were put together and revised and rewritten by followers of the apostles after their deaths. An official Bible didn't surface until the 4th century, and the Protestant reformation that started over one thousand years later cut the Bible down a little thinner.

So yeah, there are 2 billion people that base their faith on the handed down, and quite possibly butchered and censored, accounts of 6 men. It's not like Christianity was the state religion of Rome and could be used to control the Roman empire or anything like that; not like any of the men at the Council of Nicea could have possibly carried a political agenda in putting together what is considered by many today to be the 'inerrant and holy word of Gawd'. http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif

Anyone who wants to question the validity of the bible should read "The Case for Christ", because it was written by a sceptic, and is very fair in the way it looks at it.

Just finished it. It is a little biased. Main problem is that Christianity is based on faith, a handful of claims that can’t be tested, and eye witnesses. Everyone knows that eye witnesses count for nothing. Even if they aren’t biased and accurate according to them, it still provides nothing more but an emotional safety net for those who believe. There is no way you can disprove that God doesn’t exist, much like there is no way you can prove that I’m not God. Without some clear cut way to know that you are wrong, you can continue to make excuses indefinitely.

Fair?! Hahahaha! It's just a compilation of modern apologetics. Strobel didn't even interview any neutral or opposed scholars, just "evangelical scholars". He presented them 'common critical arguments' against Christianity (many of which, aren't even common arguments at all), recorded the apologetic given to the argument, and left it at that.

Strobel masturbates the Christian ego with biased writing and a false representation of freethought and skepticism.

According to ledgend it is indeed possible that "christ" journeyed to India (maybe he got off that cross!) and there are the remains of a 30 something year old man from the west burried in an indian village.

Wow, wouldn't the historical figure be amazed at what's happened to the world in his name.

I have seen similar arguements before about Jesus but the, truth of the matter is ,there is not one scrap of historical evidence that jesus ever existed ."No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts"

The above is a quote
