Okay, we had some Jahovah (sp?)Witnesses come by today, and I guess they were asking my Step Dad if God Will was being performed. Well that got me thinking.

If Gods Will was not being performed, wouldnt it mean God didnt will it? Or is Gods Will different than fate? And if thats the case, doesnt that mean Fate controls Gods Will? (or the reverse?)

An all powerful and omnipotent god's will is always being done because if he did not will it it could not be done.

At the point at which God created the Universe, he must have known exactly what would happen. He must have had the choice to create it differently. Therefore anything that happens only happens because God has chosen (or willed) it to happen.

Calvinism attempts to explain away how this can occur without destroying free will by saying that as long as humanity always has the ability to choose their strongest desire, then their will is still being fulfilled, and thus is free.

To me, all of that seems pretty crappy, but that's the theological explanation.

God is the provider of all possibilities that we can possibly think, perform, choose, and it is God we utilize in order to choose them. On another level we are just yet another possibility playing itself out of an infinite number of others.

Let's be blunt here: that was a completely empty statement which doesn't address any of the relevant issues or points.

But on the plus side, it almost sounded like real philosophy. It was just hollow.

Why is it empty? Why do people seem to find it empty! It is what I believe!

This pretty much means nothing.

Oh, and just because you believe it doesn't mean it's not completely stupid.
