Look at it this way: the Earth is accepted to be 4.5 billion years old. Now, the Creationists might argue with this, but who says a day for God is the same length it is for us?

Let's do a little mental experiment here: The Age of the Earth is 4.5 billion years, from the oldest solids. Now, if we take that back a bit further, to when, say, the first gasses that swirled around to make the Earth appeared, we might come up with a number close to 7 billion.

7 billion years. Now, if we postulate that God took six "days" to create the Earth and place the first humans upon it (300,000 to 500,000 years ago), and that his "days" each lasted one billion years, and then took the seventh to rest, we come up with an interesting hypothesis:

God is sleeping. And, if this is all correct, and so is the Bible, then He went to sleep probably several thousand years ago, say, about the time he let the Jews out of Egypt. His last known REAL miracle. Regardless, it's unimportant.

The point is, He's going to be asleep for at least another 999,999 million years.

Fuck.

Or he's watching us all and having a good laugh or, most likely, he isn't real.

Kind of an interesting point, actually. My question would be, however: why would a truly omnipotent being need to sleep at all? Or divert his attention in any way?

and, with the omniscience thing, there's no limitation on what he can do. he can rest and still watch over the world if he wanted to.

Okay, it may be possible to watch while resting. But his seventh day of resting won't be over for millions of years and that means judgement day is a long way off!

Human beings given enough technology could create a planet in much less time than 6 billion years. So God must be mexican or something, that explains why he's always appearing on taco shells I guess.
