So after painstaking months of convicing. I finally got my girlfriend to see the light of my belief of how ridiculus the idea of any type of god is. Thats not what im saying though. My girlfriends parents are making her go to church tommorow(they just started going back to church recently themselves) But she is about 18 and a half and so am I. I was invited to go to church with them. What should I do totse? Can anyone help me think of a way to get my girlfriend out of being forced to go to church.
PS. If my girlfriends parents found out she didn't believe in god, they would hit her.

She should concider moving out. If her parents really are irational people prone to violence what makes you think anything either of you could say or do to stop them from going balistic.

If her parents are willing to hit her because she doesn't believe in God then they are fucked up. My parents don't know I don't believe in God but I know they wouldn't hit me for it.

you realize that "enlightening" your girlfriend by forcing athiesm on her and subverting her faith is no better than the asshole christians who force their religion on people. why cant you just accept other peoples beliefs?
anyway as for going to church, why not just go? it'l keep your girlfriend's parents happy, and it's only an hour of your life. unless its a very small church, just sit somewhere away from her parents and read through it.

I didnt push it on her. I just pointed shit out like, if god was real he would let drunken hillybillies stuff firecrackers in kittens assholes. And the fact that when she told her former friends from another county that she wasn't sure if she believed in god anymore they stopped being her friend solely because of this. That was one of the main things that made her lose faith. Her friends not being friends with her just because she didnt believe sounded pretty ridiculus to her too.

havent you heard? everytime you masturbate god kills a kitten, drunken hillbillies are just one of his many preferred methods.
Anyway, back on topic. just because you think her beliefs are inferior to your own doesn't make it ok to shoot them down, i mean is she really better off an athiest? her friends left her (i know its retarded but it happens) and when her parents find out there is going to be some drama. i guess what im saying is, theres not really any reason to try and convert someone else to your religion because what usually happens is either A. theyre a devout believer, wont change, and become offended. or B. they do convert, but are shunned by their friends and family, and become unhappy. the point im getting at is, why? whats the point of converting her to athiesm?

I didn't try to, it just kind of happened. I dont know, it probably just rubbed off. IF there was a point, it would be because if she was a devout believe I wouldn't be able to stand her. Besides, why do believers have to convert athiests too?

i know man, christians trying to convert left and right is just as bad, because when you try to convert someone your basically saying. my beliefs are better than yours, you must be misguided or stupid for having the faith you do, so i will change you to make you like me. it goes back to what i said before though, people should just respect other peoples differences and beliefs, however i know this is about as likely to happen as world peace. However the christians kind of have an exscuse, theyre faith encourages witnessing to others, however athiesm ofter talks about how forcing religion is wrong (the same applies to non-religion) so it makes you look like a hypocrite, my advice? don't talk about your beliefs, and dont ask about other peoples. religion (or lack thereof) should be personal. Oh and my parents had me go to church today for the first time in weeks, it wasn't that bad at all, i just read through it. I don't see what the big deal about going to church is. it's not like brainwashing or anything, you just sit there and some guy talks, you dont have to listen.

I agree. But if her parents would hit her, then they aren't really Christian.
