Here is a theory i heard the other day that is quite possibly the hardest to comprehend but, the easiest to understand.

The universe is an infinitly large mass that has no end, or at least an end that the human mind can comprehend. Since it so so immensly large there are infinite possibilities for earths just like ours. Infact there is someone infinite light years away typing the same thing you are but there monitor is a little more to the left than yours is. My point is that how can one being hold power over all of this?

well wait, who ever said god governs whatever life is in outer space? in fact i think the christian belief is that there is no other life in space.

It doesn't matter what the mind can comprehend. What matters is that the universe is finite and has a finite number of particles in it.

I could argue that the universe itself is just a massive functioning system bound by limitations and that a God isn't a necessary component of it's function. However, how would one go about explaining complex physics and chemistry to a group of people who still believe in creationism?

I have to disagree with you there...check out lucretius'spear. If one were to somehow get to the edge of the universe and throw a spear, one of two things would happen.

A.) spear is thrown and keeps traveling, thus universe is inifinte.

or

B.) spear is thrown and hits the edge of the universe, but that would mean there is something beyond that. Thus there is more to the universe, thus the universe is inifinite.

The universe according to Stephen Hawking has no boundries and is finite. A universe that is continually expanding, is finite. No matter has ever been created. Since there is a finite amount of material in the universe, there are not infinite possibilities for earths just like ours.

You're assuming that there must be something beyond a finite universe. A split second after the Big Bang, the universe was the size of a grapefruit. Must there have been something beyond that?
