Hell in Buddhism and Hinduism?

Could someone explain how hell fits into Buddhism and Hinduism? I thought they did not have one with the whole reincarnation thing but several sources claim that they do but do not explain how they fit in to there whole scheme.

So how does hell fit into Buddhism and Hinduism? I am confused.

Dunno from Hinduism, but there are MANY sects in Buddhism, at least one of which has a hell and demons and stuff as part of its mythology..

I can answer for buddhism.

Armsmerchant it is a little more complex than that.

In Buddhism, you are reincarnated, and you are reincarnated into a different plane or life. A hell existance, would be one where you suffer constantly. Your life would be long but it would end and you would be reincarnated again.

if you believe in a hell, then there is a hell. and since the only thing we know for sure is this existence, i believe that the only hell to exist is one you create yourself in this life.

Yeah. As said, Hinus and Buddhists try and free themselves the eternal struggle and achieve moksha or nirvana. Howeber, I believe that Mahayana Buddhists (something like that) hold more secular beliefs and believe that only the great Buddha himself was holy enough achieve nirvana. The only way to free oneself from the eternal struggle is to pony up the cash to the monastary, hehe.

The Earth is the closest thing to hell in the two religions although someone mentioned demons in one form of Buddhism. That's probably true as Buddhism is much more cosmopolitan and has less of a central identity. You could probably find a hell other than Earth in other forms of Buddhism. I wouldn't worry about it as Buddhism is pretty stupid to begin with. Hinduism FTW.

you live a good life, you might not get reincarted depending on how good your deeds were. heaven/release

you live an average life

reincarted as human/high life form

you live a bad life (jerk/ punk/ immoral)

reincarted as some animal or insect

you live a really bad life

hell cept its counted in births, i.e. a trillion births as ant being tortured...

then you get back to normal life

Well how does hinduism explain the fact there are more and more people on the Earth. That can't be all reincarnations. We have like 100x the people as 1000 years ago. Reincarnation doesn't make sense to me.
