Do Demons exist?

A rabbi told me the other day the definitive proof to demonss existence. You have to get a black female cat (daughter of a black cat), kill it and burn it; put your bed in the middle of your room so that it's not touching any walls, and then spread the ash in a circle surrounding it. Sleep there. The next day if you're still alive you will see the marks of demon's feet: they'll look like hen claws. And that's it.

I really talked to a rabbi asking him to prove his wonderful religion and this is the best he could come with (it is written on the guemara wich is like the torah, I think).

My thoughts on demons, and i stress they are just thoughts: We are told in Genesis that anger will become a demon, or as a demon, crouching at the door.

Which would seem to indicate to me that any strong emotion or desire can take over us mentally and become a 'demon' . Think for example of people who kill for lust etc.

If you like, the emotion takes on a life of its own.

But like i said thats just my personal feeling on it.

I'm willing to bet that the Rabbi hasn't actually tested this theory. Besides, I was of the impression that demons, as far as religious texts suggest, don't need encouraging to go pick on innocents.

Furthermore, no, Demons don't exist. Neither do Angels.
