Is this any type of proof against religion?

Can anyone explain to me why christians change their views over time to match the views of non-christians?

Take gay people for example. Gays used to be persecuted by society and christianity alike many years ago. Society as a whole came round to the idea that they are not that different to everyone else, and now christianity seems to be coming round as well.

Women having equal rights to men would be another example where society as a whole saw women as equals, and christianity followed along afterwards. It wasn't that long ago women couldn't vote..... Now some christian franchises are allowing women priests!

Dark skinned people are yet another example.

I don't understand how christians can have this bible that supposedly hasn't changed, and is the word of their god, yet their teachings can change along with societies infuences. To a sceptical mind, this would show that christianity as a whole is more of a marketing organisation than a religion......

Am I thinking along the right lines, or am I way off the mark here? Also, I only chose christianity because I was brought up going to sunday school and scripture at school....

Christianity is an evolved religion. Over time, the offical dogma--what they say is the revealed word of God--changes with the times.

Used to be, Catholics would be damned to hell eternal for eating a Big Mac on Friday, if they didn't confess this sin to some guy in a dress who would then give them some magic words to say that would insure their going to heaven.

As is every religion. That is why a Muslim can't just be a Muslim. They have to be a certain type of Muslim as a Christian is a certain type of Christian (denomination). Religion changes with time because that is the only way to keep it going. Religion is now a business. You try to gain as many followers as possible and spread your influence as far as possible. The most recent of religious evolution, I think, is Jehovah's Witness. Their changing of official dates for the Apocalypse, that is.

Metaphysics is not mathematics.

That said, there is a growing body of Biblical scholarship which strongly implies--proves if you will--that Jesus did NOT die on the cross, he did NOT walk on water, and that the "he who is without sin" incident NEVER happened--to name but a few examples.
