Using Relgious Hatred Laws
I'm not sure of the US, but in the UK we've got some religous hatred laws which are the opening we've been using to slip in things such as SORs - sexual orientation regulations - making it illegal to refuse a homosexual a position in the clergy because they're homosexual.
Anyway, currently both Islam and Christianity call their god: God. As god is a concept we cannot attack it directly, by most definitions it's plausible a godlike entity exists, but what if - using religous hatred laws - we forced the religions to revert to the actual name of their god - Yahweh and whatever Allah was originally. They're now vulnerable to attack because we're not disputing 'god' but 'so-and-so'.
If we can seperate the god concept from the figures worshipped in these two religions the impact on their numbers should be massive - you wouldn't have average joes being sucked in by 'god'. It would also emphasize just how many 'gods' there are just by forcing religions to use unique names.
