noah ark lost civilisations and time before time

I watched a video today in class.
in it there was a discussion on the pyramids.
one speaker said that the pyramids were built at the beggining of mankinds history, and the ability to build them were far to advanced for a civilization at a time like that.
he talked about how they're might be a point in mankinds history a "dark point" that no knowledge is known about today but some ideas from that "era' were passed on.

I thought about this, and I also thought about the idea of noah's flood, the same story told be the greeks, and several other ancient civilisations.
I wondered could this flood be a representative of some ancient disaster that wiped out a full civilization, might not have been a flood.
