Default Evolution in Perspective

I recently found out a rather poignant fact that highlights more clearly the true acceptance of evolution better than typical methods.

By conservative estimates...

The percentage of Historians who Deny the Holocaust

Is Four Times Greater then

The percentage of Scientists who Deny Evolution.

One of my high school humanities teachers gave a lecture about evolution that was quite biased.

He presented evolution as the source of lots of evil from the application of Social Darwinism, but phrased every single statement "and if evolution is true..." and then gave an example of evil dictators who had perverted the theory to appalling ends.

He then went on to say, evolution was being debated in the universities and coming into question by modern science.

This is why such massive, wide spread ignorance exists in the lay people of this country. Forty percent. Forty Percent of this country, the United States, thinks the world is 6000 years old.

This is embarrassing.

We should be the worldwide champions of education, not ignorantly ignoring established and profound truth.

The thing is, these 40% of embarrassingly confused Americans, are not scientists.

There's not a single one of them, any more then there are historians denying the holocaust.

Are they worth mentioning? Do we need to teach the alternative theory that the holocaust didn't happen?

Because frankly, that theory is more supported by the experts in the field than creationism.

Which is to say, absolutely not at all to a ridiculous level.

When the divisive line is so consistent between experts and the uninformed laymen, it's incredibly obvious who's wrong.

And when Holocaust Denial is Four Times more supported by the experts than Creationism...

...It's even more obvious.

It's damn time we stopped pretending otherwise.
