I love how people like deus blatantly lie about what other people say

... because they have no real arguments against what they're actually saying.

Really?

Here's what you said:

And here's what I said:

Now maybe I am guilty of hyperbole, but not blatant lying... unless I somehow missed the bit where you actually backed up your claim that "Ubuntu is kicking the crap out of Fedora at the moment".

Hyperbole, blatant lying, about the same thing when you're quoting someone.

Here are some statistics:
  • Ubuntu is AT THE TOP of distrowatch hit numbers for the past 12 months, 6 months, and 3 months. In the last 30 days OpenSuSe got the better of it, but as of the last 7 days it's rebounded back to the top. Fedora, even though it has had a major release more recently than Ubuntu, piddles around 7th place in the last week, and maintains around 4th place in all of the other statistics.
  • http://www.google.com/trends/viz?q=ubuntu,fedora,opensuse&graph=weekly_img&sa=N These are the google rankings for Ubuntu (blue), Fedora (red), and OpenSuSe (yellow). As you can see, Ubuntu is kicking the crap out of both of them. And, on the source page you can see that there's a massive international demand for Ubuntu as well.
  • http://www.google.com/trends?q=ubunt...ate=all&sort=0 These are the google trends for searches of "ubuntu help", "fedora help", and "opensuse help". You can see that Fedora gets a peak every so often, but then goes down to zero, suggesting that it only attracts new users after certain events. Ubuntu, on the other hand, has had steady growth, which indicates a non-linear growth of new users.
  • Fedoraforum.org statistics:

That is what I call an epic trounce. Look at the "Active Members" numbers, as well -- Ubuntu has THIRTY-TWO TIMES the active users.

I thought deus was referring to the deb vs. rpm argument, for which my only backup is a wikipedia page (and source) I can't find now and years of experience. But as to the Ubuntu vs. Fedora, I think we can safely say, with good support from objective statistics, that Ubuntu is kicking the crap out of Fedora right now.

Yea and Windows Vista alone is kicking the crap out of Ubuntu right now.

People choose Ubuntu over other distributions because their told it's friendlier, that and the massive amount of publicity generated by Shottleworth.

Let me remind you there was other distribution that aimed to be user-friendly before Ubuntu came in.

The only area Ubuntu did bring something new is it's 3 click installer and offering a single DE.

Ubuntu doesn't offer a single Desktop Environment (assuming that's what DE means). There's Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Fluxbuntu. Those are all "official" variants sponsored (to some extent) by Canonical. They only ship one desktop environment per CD to conserve space.

Also, I wouldn't say that Vista is kicking the crap out of anything. It's nearly impossible to get true Vista statistics, because vendors count even computers sold with XP on them as Vista machines.

I didn't realise by "kicking the crap out of' you purely meant 'has more users'.

What I thought you meant, and was asking you to back up, was that Ubuntu is actually better, or easier to use, in some way. eg: Why deb is better than RPM? etc...

If you think for a second that the hit count on a single website, and the user base -requesting some sort of assistance- on a forum shows accurate statistics as to what is "more popular", or "easier to use" or "more user friendly" or whatever your definition of better is, you're not fooling me.

Do this though, find an official Ubuntu.com or other website official statistics for data transferred in the process of downloading the disk images, or something that shows a good representation of the total bandwidth used for people downloading the Ubuntu Linux distribution. We'll compare the statistical data between the two sites, the other one being FedoraProject.org for Fedora Linux.

I assume you're going to pull torrents.fedoraproject.org out? That's only one means of distribution; there's no way of finding out how many copies of the ISO's are downloaded in total are taking all means of distribution (ftp mirrors, http mirrors, jidgo, torrent, shipped CD's) into account.

And no, I'm not "trying to fool you". That's just the truth. The numbers are there. The distro to which you have a fanboi devotion to is losing. Take it like a fucking adult.

No, I did mean "has more users". That translates into "is more popular", which in turn is what the OP and I were discussing. When I was answering his question.

Tell me, do you even post in this forum anymore besides to try to troll me?

EDIT: Answered my own question. Deus's only posts in this forum since October 27th (the date of the last non-troll post) have been exclusively dedicated to attempting to troll me.
