My Card Was On The Table
by Tom Meyers
I, Tom Meyers, am the original manchurian candidate.
I'm 67 years old. I am only now after years of therapy
able to tell what happened to me during and after
the Korean War. Although I always remembered being
confronted by the enemy, while me and six or seven
others were on a mission on or beyond the Korea DMZ.
For many years I thought that all that happened was
that they told us to leave, I guess that's how my
mind protected my from recalling all the horrible
things that followed. Some years ago I flashed back
and had to be admitted to the V.A. hospital. I had
to go through intensive therapy to be able to deal
with the truth of what happened. The doctors encouraged
me to file for a service connected disability.
I was given a card for medical care and pending
benefits. But as more and more of the truth came out,
they told me that they made a mistake and I was not
eligible for benefits and started saying they have
no records of this happening to you, and I can believe
that, because for some strange reason, I remember before
the mission the officer in charge said this mission
will not go on your 201 file.
I'm going to cut it short
now for I'm getting a little jumpy. I do remember a
man in Highland Falls N.Y. asking me if I would show
him around town, he was a merchant marine,he ask me
to go back to his place so he could change his shirt
when we got there, I near a table and he handed me
a deck of cards, and said why don't you play a game
of solitare while your waiting, I said I didn't care
to but he said he was going to be awhile and I said
okay.
I don't know how long after that, but I was
standing the sidewalk, in Highland Falls with other
people, waiting to see President Eisnhower to pass
through on his way to West Point. I rushed toward his
car, and was then grabbed by a whole bunch of guys. I know that after that I was used by the CIA as an
assassin and a spy for about six years. There is so
much more I'd like to say, I'm okay now but I'm
getting tired. To contiue
