I don't want to bring anyone down, but recently I've felt as if God has abandoned me. In my times of need I pray to Jesus for help and guidance, but as of late I haven't felt like he's with me. I'm not planning on giving up my faith any time soon but I just want to know if anyone has ever felt this way before and if you got through it okay.

thanks and God bless

I sometimes feel like that, since I experience fear almost all of the time. It's not all bad tho coz at least I know what Im striving to defeat.

Realized after 18 years of resounding silence that I was praying to nothing, decided that the particular being in question (Judeo/Christian God) did not exist, and so far everything has done nothing but confirm my suspicions.

I asked myself, "If the Bible was manmade propaganda and the whole thing was made up, what would give it away?". 18 years of resounding silence and all things behaving exactly as could be expected if there was no supernatural puppetmaster at all was a good indication. Of course, I always hear the popular reductionism that I'm not attributing perfectly explainable and insignifigant things that happen reguardless to the Christian God, and that is why it appears to not exist.

The way i see it, if there is/are a God/Gods, and they wanted us to worship them and pet their egos and all that and if we didn't they would endlessly torture us for not complying with their terrorist demands, they would make it undeniably clear that such is the case.

That they, if they exist, hide themselves so thoroughly indicates that they want to be unknown.

Such beings would not go to such great lengths to conceal themselves if they wanted our lives to be impacted by their existence.

So we're left with either Gods that don't exist, or don't give a shit either way, which makes them completely superfluous, inconsequential, irrelevant, and unimportant.

Of course, I don't pray.

I rely upon myself. I don't expect some kind of godly intervention to my stupid and trivial problems.

I'll have to second that. I find that thinking about how to solve problems and/or doing damage control and cutting losses works alot better than praying to a sky genie to grant a wish.

praying and crying to God expecting Him to help you out when you're in trouble isn't the way...

Thats just the last option so don't go into a situation feeling that God owes you something...

He never said don't work hard, and don't think of ways to get yourself out of a mess...

Go read your Bibles, they're free in most places

Praying to what?....

Apparently a crisis of faith can be resolved by deep introspection and contemplation. It might not give you what you want.

Think about why you are asking? What do you expect this deity to do for you?

Can't help you with Xstanity, no personal experience; but this seems a common problem with 'faith'. (I have none, I remain Sceptical before and after the fact).

Good luck....

It isn't God you pray to anyway, It's your subconscious mind. Whether or not a prayer is answered depends on your faith in its success.

Yeah, I felt abandoned when my husband got killed and when my dad died. Probably other times too, sometimes it just seems like everything bad keeps piling on your brain.

If there is not god, then there aren't any spiritual beings at all, right? No nothin.

I can't believe that because I need a reason

to explain the off the wall things that I see and feel, like the bowl levitating the day after my best friend died, or hearing my dads voice talking to the neighbor a couple of weeks after he died, or the chair that just started rocking the other night when no one was in it.

There has to be a spiritual world, though I don't think we have any control over it. If we did, then shit would be a mess.
