Agnostic - one who questions the existince of god (just for those who didnt know) well anyways, i think that whether they know it or not, everyonese agnostic. No matter what u tell me, i will not believe that there is anyone out there who is a total athiest. to do so is also to say that everything is finite. ex. if you are so positive that god doesnt exist, it means that you believe that in the full extense of the universe there is not a single being that may have created it. Sure it seems unlikely but that has nothing to do with it. but dont worry, im not athiest bashing. at least not only that. all those people who go to church every sunday, and pay to get yourself into a place that no one has ever proven exists is extremely stupid. i think in the whole scheme of things, our existance, even the existance of the whole planet is totally inconsequential.

Anyways, the more i think about this, the more i contradict myself, so just tell me what u think. btw, yah i know im a nub and this sounds like its coming from a moron, but dont give me that bullshit, just tell me what u think of the topic.

Most atheists do not claim to know that no gods exist; they simply have no reason to believe in them.

Your definition of "agnostic" is a bit wanting as well.

If I claimed there was a gigantic space slug living in my closet, would you believe me, think I was full of shit or claim to be agnostic about space slugs?

I'd hardly call "not having a belief in a god(s)" the same as "believing no gods exist"

Agnostic is a terribly and widely defined term, but let's look at what the person who coined it (Thomas Huxley) has to say about it:

Gnostics are people who claim to have hidden knowledge revealed to them. An agnostic makes no such claims.

Back to atheism; people who claim to know that no gods exist are a very small subgroup of atheists and (as far as I have seen) tend to be ranting crackpots.

So, kevinboyd; when I say I am an atheist, yes, I probably mean the same thing as you mean by agnostic. However, my definitions are properly aligned with their Greek origins, and I also don't end up looking like a nancyboy who won't call a spade a spade.

Either way know one can say anything for a fact. Along the same lines in the teachings of Confusious we can not rely on past experiences to precdict the future, he uses the example that if you drop a pebble and it falls to the floor the next time it may rise to the heavens. (sorry about the heavens bit just refering to up)
