Mormonism

I haven't looked that far in to Mormonism, but from what I can see it basically teaches that Americans are superior to everyone else.

Seems a bit Cultish to me.

but it DOES say that america is 'the promised land'

America in 200 years became the most powerful country in the history of the planet, has insane resources and massive quantities of arable land so this is quite easily justified

I personally consider Mormonism to be a cult. I think the reasons for this are obvious...

Well alot of people think Mormonism is a cult or they mistake them as the Amish I've heard alot of people say pretty funny things about them. Mormonism isnt a cult they are christains just like anyone else. They beleive in the same god as everyone else they live by the Bible just like christains and chatholics do. People also call them devil worshippers but if ever drive by a Mormon church you'll see "The Church of Jesus Christ of Later day saints" in the front...... How can they be devil worshippers?

smoketheweed, I'm Mormon and I hate how people just criticize my religion. We've all grown up in different religions and have our own set of opipions and thoughts about others its life. Everyone is different and I would suggest going to the source and finding someone who is mormon like and and ask them a series of questions. You might change your mind.

No Mormonism doesnt teach people that they are better then everyone else. It teaches people you can be better then everyone else by choosing the right with means keeping a clean life.......no drugs or alcohol and no sex or any of that crap before merriage.

I'm 15 and I've grown up into the Mormon religion. And its helped me out with my life and has showed me I can have fun and live a clean happy life without drugs.

Cult is a tough term. I don't think i'd go so far as to call it a cult.

But it is a false religion.

I live in Mormon country.......Utah. They arent really cult like but most of them are so damn devout you cant even talk sense to them. Its basicly christianity but as ignorant as you can get, mixed with the thought that anything thats not church sanctioned is evil. In my book they are just one step above jahova's witnesses.

At some level, i wonder if LDS "Corporate" is making a concerted effort to hide how different Mormonism really is from Protestant Christianity.

Mormons use similar language as Christians, and even claim Jesus as a praise-worthy figure. However, the faith really has little to do with Christianity.

The church of Latter-Day Saints believe God to be a deity who used to be a man, but became a god because he lived a good life. And any of us can also become gods if we live our lives the right way.

That's just one of many ways Mormonism and Christianity are completely different and incompatible.
