How can religion be true if they all say different things?

Take this for example:

This guy approached me while I was waiting to meet someone and started talking about god so I thought that I might as well talk to him to kill time.

The convo went like this:

Him: Do you believe in god?

Me: No.

Him: Why not?

Me: There are so many religions in the world which all claim they are right, but they all contradict each other. How am I supposed to know which is right or even if any are right?

Him: Because our religion is the only religion where Jesus died for our sins.

Me: But why does that make your one the real one?

Him: Because God loves you and wants to let you into heaven.

I gave up having a debate with him since this is what it always came back to.

So just because "Jesus died for our sins" your religion is true? Its something written down ages ago that could just be someones big story book. Other religions also have really old books which tell of their view of god/gods, why is theirs false and your true? Telling me "Because in our version Jesus dies for our sins" just doesn't cut it as a reasonable answer.

I don't see how any can exist, "The other religions are created by the devil to trick people away from God", but how do I know that this religion isn't false to trick me away from those religions?

So why do you think that they exist and others don't? And don't you think that with so many in the world all saying different things that contradict each other that none can be true?

Choosing to believe in any religion, or in any form of God, is an individual leap of faith, which can neither be proven nor disproven. When it comes to religious faith or spirituality, the truth is completely subjective.
