In Europe, I think it's safe to say religion is pretty much dead, other than the Muslim immigrants, no one really practices a religion.

In the US and Canada, religion is practiced more, and people attend church a lot more.

What you think?

the ammount of religion practiced in an area is inversely proportional to the level of education.

thusly sub saharan africa is extremely superstitious and poor, and singapore has world class biotech research establishments and is rich.

Travel outside of any major city in the US, and you will be shocked at the immense amount and public display of faith. Once you're outside the cities, you can't escape it. Christianity is everywhere in the US where urbanites aren't.

Its certainly diminishing at a rapid pace... Nonetheless, there will always be 'religion' because its hardwired in man to worship something, whether it be God, false gods, money, nature, etc...

"Religion," if used loosely, can be used to describe almost any social device that fulfills the basic human need to pay reverence to an idea. Stalin abolished much of the religious institutions in Russia and created a 'Religion of State,' a cult of personality. In modern Europe, ideas about public service and politics fill in some of the void left by the death of religious attendance. It's almost never a matter of "whether" you worship, instead it's "what."

I have yet to find a poll suggesting that more than 10% of Americans are Atheist. Furthermore, I have found polls suggesting that a mere 3% of Americans are Atheist. Granted, this is increasing, but religion is still alive and well.

Also, a study recently conducted by my University found that Atheists are America's most distrusted minority.

religion is dead in the west. people may try to act relgious, but they know very well that they do not practice what they preach. the louder they preach, the more skeletons they are hiding. only places in the west where religion is still practiced are amish communities.

That's not true, just because the people you know maybe hypocrites doesn't mean it's dead in "the west". First of all, what do you mean with "the west", and what knowledge do you have of other countries? Or for that matter of the people who live in your own. You would probably be shocked by how religious people still are.
