Recently a friend told me that there was a guy who was pennicostal, i think an aquaintance of his or something, well i guess the general rule is that pennicostals arent supposed to have cable or whatever. so this guy gets cable for his kids so that they can watch the disney channel and whatnot and the preacher or minister or whatever want to call him told him to get rid of the cable. the guy basically said no because he got only for his kids to watch the disney channel on. the minister threatened to pray this guy to hell. he said "if you dont get rid of cable then i will pray you to hell." i thought it was sort of ridiculous that a minister would threaten to prays someone to hell but whatever. thoughts?

That case is a tad extreme, but typical of Christianity, which is ultimately a religion of fear and denial.

Shit, I'm not even Christian, but even I know that’s not the way its supposed to work. I would think the minister would be praying that the man would see the 'error of his ways' and hope that he'll be forgiven for his mistakes. Not condemning him to Hell. That’s plain malicious.

And that he said he's done it before and got some sort of 'thank you note' form Satan really seems to go against the basic principles of the religion - your not supposed to consort with the Devil.

The Pentecostals I know don't actually have a ban on cable, but they did burn Harry Potter books... So you can easily generalise that they're all quite odd.
