Recently a church my family used to attend sent us a letter saying we are not members anymore because we have stopped donating to them. This makes me hate everything about christianity. The whole system is much too political and greedy.

Does this mean you have to pay to get into heaven?

I'm not suprised one bit. When my parents wanted to get me baptized, they took me to their regular church. The people running it looked at their records, said my parents hadn't donated in a long time, and basically said they wouldn't baptize me.

***Wait. I started this post as a joke, then I remembered tithing (or titheing.. or something). You gotta pay 10 percent of your income (before taxes) to the church. Anyone know whether this is in the Bible (I don't care if it was added later, just wondering if it is in the accepted "Book of Rules") or just something verbally "demanded"?

No, it just means that that particular church requires you to pay money to be a member. It's not necessarily right, but thats not something that most churches do.

Your one example doesn't prove in any way that "God=Greed".
