The mormon faith claims it's the same God because it's how they can get Christians to convert. In all actuality, mormonism (well, the latter-day saints as they call themselves now because people get twitchy over the name mormon now) is completely different than Christianity. Most mormons don't know what they believe in because they're not being told everything about their religion. They're supposed to believe in 3 heavens, Jesus & Satan were brothers (metaphorically and literally), black is the colour of sin (which is why blacks weren't allowed until the 70's after the name change to latter-day saints), and a few various other things... such as white hebrew indian albinos traversing the world all the way to Utah to plant golden tablets in a place that doesn't have gold. As a religion, they pull it off though because they're really friendly to you and they make it feel like a great family atmosphere and they help people out in need. They're really good salesmen pretty much because they spin their shit so it doesn't sound so twisted and then gradually bring out the crazy stuff to you.
