i dont see a point in arguing on a forum with people who i have never met in my life, and probably never will, over a distrobution, which is as much a personal opinion as someones favorite color

Your opinion on this forum is as much as a personal opinion as someone's favorite color.

Re: Poll: Choose your least favorite Linux distribution
Oh wait, I misread the poll. I read it as "Favorite distro" not "least favorite distro" (I thought I had already voted...). -1 for slackware then. +1 for ubuntu. Good job, assholes.

Re: Poll: Choose your least favorite Linux distribution
Im a linux ubuntu n00b of sorts, I havenīt been using it for a long time, but the difference between it and XP is clear to see, especially with Beryl installed. I would like to try others, as such I havent voted as i have no informed opinion, but from what I see, apart from the root user being locked, i havent had a problem with it. Is there a good distribution to use if you have liked ubuntu as your first distribution as I would like to try another, just which one...

Fixed.
Don't pronounce the holy name of the Debian Delusional community as associated with ubuntu.

Re: Poll: Choose your least favorite Linux distribution
Ubuntu. Why?
Ubuntu is a Debian fork. Forks can be good, and Debian is a good distribution.
However, Ubuntu has essentially just made a slightly easier installer for Debian, added a few of its own packages, and claimed the whole OS as their own.
They're put together a CD of Debian's packages, except they've stripped out important things, and included instead ethically if not legally questionable packages.
Ubuntu has made several changes, like the retarded idea of disabling the root account, that complicate things for people used to other distributions, and teach newbies the wrong way of doing things.
Rather than specialising Debian and sending compatible benefits back to upsteam, they've effectively highjacked their packages.
I think that Ubuntu probably was a little easier to install a while back.
That's absolutely not true now. Fedora 6 and 7 are easy as piss to install.
