Red face Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

I've been thinking about something lately. I'm sure most of you are at least somewhat aware of the FSM and Pastafarianism. I was wondering if an actual physical church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster would work. Like, a group of 20-30 (or hopefully even more) atheists (err...Pastafarians) chipping in, renting out a building or space, and having an actual church. The church would meet on Sunday Wednesday nights (kind of mocking other churches, but fuck getting up early on Sunday morning). Or hell, it could really meet whenever. Basically there'd be food, video games, movies, games, activities, and misc. fun. Plus there'd be political, philosophical, and scientific discussions and speeches in the place of sermons. It'd basically be more of a club than a church where skeptics could get together and learn and have a blast.

What do you think of this idea? I mean, if there was a Church of the FSM in your area would you attend?

Too what end?
There called humanists meat up groups. Except humanist groups are all old people and your idea involves a young twist. Theres no point calling it a church, its not like you would ever get tax exempt states.

http://humanists.ca/
first google result came up with my country, theres one for every country, groups in all major cities etc.

Red face Re: Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

I searched the American Humanist Association's site for a local chapter and the nearest chapter is a 4 hour drive away and is called "Community of Reason". I mean how fucking lame is that? "Community of Reason"...

And part of the whole fun of a FSM church would be that we'd be Pastafarians, not secular humanists . Our church could have a pirate flag on the front door and the spaghetti graphics on the windows (I co-own a sign shop ). It's Pastafarianism that would make the church fun, and more than just a group of non-religious people getting together and hanging out.

Lol, I think it'd be great. I'd attend just to dress up like a pirate. Owning a building is way too much, because no one would actually want to cough up money for such a silly (yet awesome) club. I know in my area some smaller Chinese Christian "churches" just meet in classrooms at a local public school. I think this would be a viable idea, having a place to meet that is free.

Meet at your house?

You could see if anyone would attend for free like that.

If people actually did, then you could officially establish your church and maybe even qualify for tax exemption status ( :

What would be even funnier is if you got sued for copyright infringement. Only for you to come back with the response that "You can't copyright God". In fact I think you should get in touch with the CofFSM; it would make a great publicity stunt for them to be denounced by the "true" believers in His Noodleness.

The irony of the situation would simply be too funny to be ignored.

You couldn't call yourself the CotFSM without infringing copyrights. But you could start a reformation movement and start the First United Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster or something to that effect...

The entirety of the CoFSM is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 License. A person could most certainly start a local area church, providing they didn't do things like print of their own FSM t-shirts and sell them.

Shit if the Laveyan Satanist can get together enough supporters to have their black masses why not? They're basically both parodies of christianity, except I'd be willing to bet Pastafarianism would be an easier sell than satanism.

If you could get Bobby Hendersons OK (which should be pretty easy) than this could be a cool idea.

I would suggest meeting on fridays though, since that is the Pastafarian equivalent of a sabbath.
