Default Jesus was a prophet?

In the Word of God .. Christ says, that He's more than a prophet.
I've talked to alot of people and I've met a mass of diversity in religious background and culture. Few have said Jesus wasn't the Christ.. He wasn't the son of God.. He was a prophet. OT teach says BELIEVE MY PROPHETS! The question is how is it that people say He's a prophet, and don't believe what He said?

Everything in the bible should be taken with a grain of salt. It's just a heavily distorted version of Jesus' message. It's historically proven, that most of Christianity was just made up bullshit to control people.

I think that Jesus was simply hear to set us an example on how to live our lives.

Exclamation Re: Jesus was a prophet?

Every word Christ spoke was prophecy. Every single word was the Rhema Word of God. He Himself was the Word of God man flesh and blood, to take your place.

It isn't historically proven. The Tanakh! He is a fool who says in his heart there is no God. Christ is ALL throughout history. ALL throughout history these men and women have stood in a manner to where they were willing to POUR THEIR BLOOD OUT, for the sake of the Gospel to go forth, until now. It continues to go forth! Of a TRUTH the world was not worthy of them. I remember in school being taught of Paul, Peter, and many other. This was in WORLD HISTORY.

Polycarp, the last man who lived to have any connection with one of the 12 (John), was beaten in a manner that you can't even being to imagine! It didn't kill him or keep him from praying to God and speakin God's Word! These multitude of people became indignant when he said, "Every drop of blood that hits the ground will produce another christian." They took him to the stake to burn him, and wil being burned, Polycarp was praising God. They then, took arrows and shot them in through the fire at him. Polycarp, still praising God with his hands lifted, bleed so much that it put the fire out.

Here in America, people know nothing of honour and dignity. They know nothing of faithfulness. They know nothing of God, not because they haven't opportunity, but because their God is their belly. What they want, what they desire. They worship self. Sometimes under the cloak of being 'good with God'. People have brought Christ down to their level and made Christ relative to themselves, when Christ came to bring us up to His level. In China, Indonesia, Sudan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, etc. they get a firm grip on the Word of God, and run a short sprint, impacting so many others. Their stories go unheard, but they're not forgotten.

I believe if you looked into the eyes of a christian, sold out to Christ, even while plotting to kill them, they'd look at you with the love of God and pray for you, upon seeing that, it would stain your heart, and you'd too be interested in knowing this Christ whom they were willing to be killed on account of.

You can't tell me about history. You can't come at me with garbage either. The Word of God is yesterday, today, and forever.
History's pages are marked with the blood of the saints (God's Elect).

I've seen videos of children in Sudan being burned alive, because they were christians, by radicals. CHILDREN who wouldn't deny Christ! These people fear God much more than man.

The pages of history are filled with blood stained tears.

^ I'd bet you my eternal life that God doesn't want our worship at all, and he could care less about what we do.

Those kids who are getting themselves tortured and killed are being counterproductive in building their relationship with God.

A truly benevolent God would not desire such a thing.

Once again your lack of knowledge of the bible is only matched by your lack of knowledge of history.

It is almost scary.

Someone please explain 'rex mundi' to her cos I just can't be arsed to think at the level of ameritard-trailer trash tonight.

Yes, muslims believe him to be a prophet, in that they believe he spoke to god, just as Adam/Eve, Abraham, and Muhammed did. In disagreement, they believe it to be blasphemous to say Jesus is divine/part of god as it goes against monotheistic doctrine. Even Muhammed did not believe himself to be divine or part of god, simply a messenger of god's word.

I sort of agree with OP though, if x believes Jesus to be a prophet and Jesus said he is the son of god and GOD SAID THIS TO HIM (not humans), then it would seem logical to believe what he said. Unfortunately this cannot be known to believers. As I've previously stated, (if Jesus was a real person and we are to believe his upbringing story) he was literally hunted down by the wise men and brought up from his very birth being told that he is the son of god. So, he didn't need some revelation to go around blabbing that he's the son of god, he'd already been brainwashed into believing as such.

Imo, whether or not Jesus existed, he still set a good philosophical example of how to be a good anarcho-socialist hippy-type. This is why I am in shock when I see the Ann Coulter types running around saying that as Christians, people should go about using up all the resources they want, eat animals and drive huge Hummers and pollute to their desire simply b/c of "man's dominion over earth." What a perverted misconstruction!

I googled "prohet defined" and got over 5,000,000 results--this was the first:

A person who speaks by divine inspiration or as the interpreter through whom the will of a god is expressed.
A person gifted with profound moral insight and exceptional powers of expression.
A predictor; a soothsayer.
The chief spokesperson of a movement or cause.

I think Jesus clearly qualifies on the first two, and maybe on number four--although he identified himself as a Jew.

Offhand, I think the closest thing he made to an actual prediction was "I come not to bring peace, but a sword"--and he pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one.

People dying b/c they believe in something is NOT any proof whatsoever that the belief if true OR well founded. Examples would include Heaven's Gate members currently riding behind the Hail-Bob comet in a spaceship or (my personal favorite) Mothers of Jim Jone's People's Temple pouring posion down the throats of there infants and toddlers. Holding them while they puke blood and there eyes bulge. Holding them while they soil themselves in the throes of death. Then drinking it themselves. By your argument HOW on earth could these mother's do this to their children if they did not TRULY believe in the power of Chris.....I mean Jim Jones.

Perhaps missionaries should stop going to Sudan and filling the minds of these children with Jewish Folklore that could endanger their lives. Christians should be ashamed that they caused the death of these children. You should NOT feel empowered by this story, or see it as a story about the power of Christ. It is a story about stupid intolerant people killing stupid intolerant people.

Besides that if 25% of the witch fires of the inquisition were on video we would have to have several museums and libraries dedicated to preserving the VAST amount of video tape evidence of the mass murders done BY Christians. In short, I am very short on sympathy for persecution OF Christians at the moment.

The pages of history are filled with blood stained tears. The majority of those tears fell from pagan eyes who were flat FUCKING MURDERED by followers of Christ.
