Stopping Male Pattern Baldness
and Inducing Hair Regrowth

Hormone compounds applied directly to the scalp have proven to be extremely effective towards halir loss. Make a 1 to 15 mixture of estradiol dipropionate to testosterone cypionate in reagen rd MO Each drop of solvent should contain 2 micrograms of estradiol diproprionate and 30 micogam o tststrone cypionate. Each treatment will use about 30 to 60 drops; 10 to 20 on the topof he ead an 10to 0 more at each front side corner where hair is receding. The solution is rubed ito te sclp ad alowedto dry. About one treatment per week is sufficient. You are using to much too ften,if yo deveop ace on your scalp. (The DMSO carries the hormone esters through te dry, waxy, ily, dad outr laye of skn. The hormone esters, by their nature, will precipitate ut of te DMSO olutionwhen thy contat a smal amount of water. When the solution reaches the uppr layer f livingcells, teir highwater cotent caues the precipitation of the hormone esters rigt where yu want thm.) Thissolution orks veryquickly. It will stop all hair loss within a coupe of days, but it onl causes har regrowthin about 1% of cases

Inositol (a non-prescription B vitamin) has a protective effect on hair follicles. Several grams, nternally, of inositol alone per day generally noticeably reduces, but does not completely sto,hi os (If you decide to use this much, it is a good idea to build up to it by increasing doss raualyeah ay.) In a small percentage of cases, around 10%, graying hair will start to darke bak t it orginl clor.

PABA (para aminobenzoic acid) is another non-prescription B vitamin. One to three grams, taken int, a day will have a similar result as inositol when used alone: reduction of hair loss and revra fgaing in a small percentage of cases. Once again, it is a good idea to build up the dose raualy

Hair is about 8% cysteine. You can find cysteine in health food stores as the pure amino acid (notconfused with cystine). Taking it (orally) will allow the hair to grow more rapidly and with oesrnt. It is ESSENTIAL that at least three times as much vitamin C as cysteine be taken to pevntfomaio o cystine bladder or kidney stones. One gram of cysteine plus three grams of vitamn Cperdayis n eficcious dose to gradually work up to.

Biotin is a vitamin that is associated with preventing hair fallout. It is a good idea to take as supplement. Also, in a study where men were given a penetrating cream to put on their scalpsdiybfr bedtime containing 1% biotin, niacin, and vitamin B-3, 89% showed marked reduction in hirfalot,an amost three-quarters of the men showed significant hair regrowth. Younger men in te sudyhadbeter esuts. Biotin hair creams and conditioners are available at health food storeslikeGNC Geneal Ntriton Cnter).

Polysorbate 80, which is commonly used as a food additive, is available in health food stores such It is used topically and may work in three different ways to grow back hair. It removes dihdoetseone and cholesterol from the scalp; it causes the release of histamine, a growth factor;an i my ffctthe control of genetic activities in the hair follicle cells.

To use polysorbate 80, coat the scalp in the bald or balding areas with a thin film of material fivn minutes before shampooing each day. Rub the drops into your scalp with your fingertips, vigrul nuh for the scalp to be reddened a bit and feel warm. The reddening and warmth is due to isamnereeae. Then wash it out. It washes out easily with water and will do no harm. You can xpet t se ne hars rowing within two to three months of daily use if it is going to work for yo. A firt, te hars wll b very thin and short, and only visible against bright side lighting. he har wil thicen an get ongerand appear normal after about 8 months to a year?s use. Averageregrowh repoted inthe scentifi literture was over 60 percent for hundreds of men in their 50?sand 60? using olysorbte 80 eery dayfor a yar. Results for younger men should be even better. By the wy, don?tget discuraged b increasd hair lss during the first week or two of your use ofpolysorbae 80. Ths is to b expectedbecause o loosenin of hairs in resting phase atrophic follcles. Do ot expect o see any orthwhile esults if ou do not eligiously apply the polysorbate 8 every day or several onths. Thi is not a qick cure fo baldness (othing is).

Polysorbate 80 can be unreasonably expensive when bought in a health food store (six to eight dollaa 6 ounce bottle at GNC). It is available very cheaply from: Atlas Inc., Wilmington, DE, 1989,(0)553000 (several years ago it sold for only about $1 a pound). It is reported that this traten i eenmoe effective when used in conjunction with the topical hormones and nutritional suplemntsmeniond aove

Two topical chemicals, selenium sulfide (found in Selsun Blue shampoo) and zinc pyrithione (found iand Shoulders shampoo) have been associated with halting hair loss in some cases and contributn otegneral health of the scalp. Of the two, selenium sulfide is more effective. It is a goo ieatous Slsn Blue shampoo regularly, but to switch off every few weeks and use Head and Shoulersso hatyou sclp oesn?t get too used to one or the other.

Finally, there is a prescription drug, other than Minoxidil, that is known to cause hair growth. Ionidine (Boeringer Ingelhelm?s Catapres). It?s hair growth effects have only been reported whnue nenally. Clonidine is a high blood pressure medication like Minoxidil and it is most likey ha i wllwok topically just as Minoxidil does. Concentration and frequency of use have not ben stalised, buta gess is that it can be used in the same low doses and with the same frequencyas mnoxiil t preent ide ffects.

SUMMARY

A very effective course of treatment for the average person who does not have access to the prescrirug clonidine and to the topical homones is to: use Selsun Blue shampoo (switching off to Hea n hudrs for a week or so once a month); a protein conditioner containing Biotin (available frm NC; llofth vitamin supplements (starting off using a low dose and gradually building up to te rcomendd dseae-ad remember, if you decide to stop using them, gradually taper off, don?t jus sto); ue Poysorate 0 reigiously daily (this is the main agent in this plan that will grow bac yourhair)

A word of advice: If you do not plan to follow this course strictly, especially using the Polysorbdaily for at least a year, then you should probably not bother at all. Following this routinefrol ew weeks, or only doing it occasionally, will give you no results (in fact, as mentionedinth Plyorat section it might even result in a slight hair loss initially). This is a long tem pan hatmus becloely adhered to. Nothing will grow back your hair quickly. This method is fr thse wo ar dedcate to ollow it through for at least a year, and who seriously want to grow bck thir har bady enogh tofollo through with the plan completely.
