This is NOT a basic guide to growing pot, because there are too many of these to be found on Totse and google. This is a guide to growing pot when you want it most - as a teenager.

***this entire document is assuming that your parents do not want you smoking pot***

SEEDS

Never buy seeds on the internet. It is just not worth it unless you are living by yourself and know how to grow good pot. If you do try to buy pot seeds online you may get ripped off, they may be found by the police, they may be duds, your parents may find them, they may be random seeds and not worth the price they are sold at; there are many other reasons why not to buy marijuana seeds online.

Just buy cheap pot. You can get high and get seeds for the price of one. Search your baggies for dark black/brown seeds that do not crush when placed between two fingers and squeezed.

CHOOSING A LOCATION

Very important. You need to find a remote spot, that gets a lot of sun light and has a water source nearby. Good places to look are in the woods along major highways. Search about 30+ yards away from the highway. Check local state/town parks that are densely wooded. Your spot should never be approached by humans unless they are looking for marijuana plants. All houses need to be at least 300 yards away for your spot. There cannot be any trees that cast shadows onto your spot. Wetlands are good places to grow as well. Find small drainage swamps that have brush that is about 5ft tall. Make a clearing so that your plants will get a lot of sun light. Marijuana plants need the most sunlight possible. Fields and clearings are great for growing pot. A small clearing deep in the woods is perfect.

As for watering, you need to be able to get water to your pot plants every 2-3 days. Make sure that your grow site is within a few hundred feet of a stream, creek, river, pond, lake, or swamp. Stash clean milk jugs in the woods near you plants so that you can fetch them water when needed. Do not plant too close to a water source as that water source may flood and kill you plants. It is a good idea to plant on higher ground if possible.

If you do not want to visit your plants every 2-3 days, you can set up a watering system. The easiest system is as follows:

Fill a 1 gallon milk jug with tap water. Put 1 small hole/slit in the center of each side of the jug, about one inch from the bottom of the jug. Cap the jug and set it outside; moniter how many days it takes for the water to ooze out of the jug (aim for 5 days, adjust the hole sizes accordingly with a new jug if the water oozes out too fast or too slow). Then plant in clusters of 3-5 plants. In the center of these clusters bury the jug so that only the cap shows above ground and so that the jug keeps the soil moist for several days.

THE SITE

You need to prepare your site. The best time to choose a site is in the fall or early spring (march/april). Once you have a good site, clear it out. Remove all brush and create a 10ft by 10ft clearing. If you plan on growing you pot plants in the ground, you will need to prepare the soil. Dig one hole for every plant you plan of growing. These holes must be 3ft deep and 2ft wide. If possible, fill the bottom few inches of the hole with gravel. Then mix the soil you removed from the hole with ferts and potting soil, and refill the hole with this mix.

If you want/need to grow in buckets, use 5 gallon buckets and haul all of them that you will need for growing up to your grow site in the fall, winter, or spring.

Fences are really really good, if you can do them. DO NOT USE A FENCE IF YOU ARE GROWING IN AREAS THAT ARE FLOWN OVER BY HELICOPTERS (news, private, or cops). Get some chicken wire and go all out. Set up posts or use small shrubs to support the fence. Make sure the fence has no gaps and goes into the ground for a few inches to prevent some animals from digging under it. The fence should probably only be 2ft tall. Above that, string up fishing line in 1ft intervals (up to about 6ft above the ground works best) to scare deer and dogs that try to jump the fence. DO NOT USE BARBED WIRE OR FISHING HOOKS AS THEY WILL PISS OFF JUDGES IF YOU GET CAUGHT AND GO TO COURT.

THE PLANTS

I normally start with 50 seeds. Sprout them inside. Use the paper towel method. Once most of them have "popped" or "cracked", bring them to your grow spot. Fill as many party cups as you have seedlings with potting soil. Poke a 1 inch hole in the soil of each cup and place your seedling (leaves facing up) in the hole. Wait a week and you should have a bunch of obvious marijuana seedlings. Once the seedlings get about 6-10 inches tall move them into the ground or into bigger pots (milk jugs work), then into 5 gallon buckets.

THE SEASON

The marijuana growing season is as follows:

  • Sprout you seedlings indoors in late April.
  • Move the seedlings outdoors within the first week of May.
  • Let the plants grow throughout the summer.
  • Harvest in late September or early/mid October.

MALES: KEEP OR KILL

I personally keep the males. Yes, if males are kept alive they do give you seedy marijuana but those seeds are very useful for future growing seasons. If you want seeds and good pot, then have two locations and kill the males at one location and not at the other.

HARVESTING

If you live with your parents, then you will need to harvest in the woods. Cut down all of your females early in the morning and hang them upside down from something like a clothes line. Stay with your plants or don't, either way, come back a several hours later and cut all of the buds off the plants. Pack these buds into sandwich ZIPLOC bags (use the bags that actually have the zipper), then pack as many bags as possible into 1 gallon ziplocs. Collect all of the leaves and try to make hash from them using a little stove or fire if you wish. Or make marijuana wine with the stems and leaves. If you do not try to use the leaves, BURY THEM AND DO NOT ATTEMPT TO STASH THEM OR TOSS THEM. The stalks can be tossed as no one will know what marijuana stalks look like.

Bring your bags to a location that has a crawl space. Rig up a clothes line in this crawl space and hang the buds upside down for about 2 weeks. THEY WILL SMELL OF MARIJUANA AND WILL MAKE THE ENTIRE ROOM SMELL AS WELL!!! After two weeks, weigh out all of your pot and double/triple bag it for storage.
