Yay for Labrets!

by Juniper

Heylo!

I got my lip pierced on tuesday! thats...actually thats almost a week ago now :) its something i'd wanted for a long long time, when i was 13 i got my belly button pierced, at the time that was what i'd wanted for ages (i'm kinda stubborn when i get an idea in my head, hehe) and the lady on the reception desk had (amoung other things) a silver ball stud under her lower lip. i couldn't stop looking at it, and thinking how ultimately groovie it was, and from then on, i knew i HAD to get me one of those :)

By the following summer my idea had developed into a ring instead, for this was even funkier, and after a lot of research and presentation i brought my mum round to the idea...the only problem was i had braces on my teeth and it wasn't something that could happen :( so i got a nostril and another set of lobes for compensation, hehe :)

But i wanted my lip ring very much and i didn't get bored of the idea (as i think mummy was hoping), my brace came off before christmas and altough my school uniforms forbids anything past 1 per ear, i soon discovered the world of retainers and came up with the cunning plan of getting it done with one of these little wonders then it didn't matter that i was in the middle of a term. this completely fell through, but who cares about the history??? summer holidays rolled round last week and i finally got my wish! i'm sure you wanna hear how it went...

I'd had a friend from the midlands staying down the me the few days before and i was dropping him at the train station for a little long and my mum swung by - 'eee, jenn! i don't know where in basingstoke this thing is, we're gonna be late! gotta leave now!' so i hopped in the car and we somehow made our way there with my best friend, who was gonna be taking pictures for my website..only problem was i'd forgotten my camera, d'oh! i did some deep breathing in the car and was calm by the time we arrived, we bought a disposable and got to the studio right on time.

i filled out some forms - suprised at how healthy i was! then i was taken straight to the chair, starting to worry because it was all going very fast and the young piercer wasn't talking the procedure over with me and they didn't have jewellery that appealed to me, i had to pick a large metalic blue ball stud. So i stopped her and started asking questions, made sure she knew where i wanted her to put it (just under the lip-line so i could wear a snug ring post healing) she marked it out, it looked about right, and i just thought 'hey, she knows what she's doing, just let her get on with it'. so i did! she got her clamps and held my lip so the spot she marked was showing through the hole and arranged it so all big veins were out of the way, then wiped a cotton wool pad with freezy cold stuff on it over the area, then got the needle (that was more like a 10ga tube with a sharp bit on the end) and started to push it through. I was expecting it to all be very quick and sharp, but she was shoving hard and it wasn't coming through the front and apparently i went all pale so she pulled back out, checked i wasn't gonna faint or anything, re-did the postitioning and tried again, this time, with a bit of effort it came 'pop!' out the front. she said sorry for the little problem, it hasn't happened before...yay, i'm special! She snapped off the end, inserted the post in, removed the tube, screwed on the ball, and it was done! and i moved on to the till, where it cost £32. she suggested i get some carex anti-bacterial soap to wash it with and i thanked her very much. she told me how groovie it looked and i looked in the the mirror and...wow! it did! yay for my new lip piercing.

So i've been looking after it since, theres been no blood and there was no lymph for the first couple of days, then it started getting sore and crusty, but my mums been giving it reiki and i'm sure it'll be just great!

Yay!
