| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

Kicking Al-Qaida's ass, the insurgents are turning on them. They are meeting other goals besides the political goals, their troops are taking on more responsibility. I'm not saying it will be pretty whenever we leave, but it is a lot better that just getting the fuck out without thinking what is going to happen.

I never said we should abandon Israel, but if you don't think the fact that we're constantly looking out for Israel while other middle eastern countries are but an afterthought doesn't affect how we're viewed in the region, then you're insane.
You never answered my last question though. What specifically about Arab/Islamic culture makes them more likely to commit terrorism, terrorism that is specifcally targeted against America and our allies?

The problem with Islam is the same problem that Christianity had. Lack of liberalism, democracy and modernization. Like I said earlier, there is a reason why there are no more Crusades and Inquisitions.

The government is basically worthless right now. They have no power, either symbolic or real. Did you miss that interim report about the progress in Iraq delivered like a week ago?
Here's a link:

This is basically sugar coated, but even though it puts a rosy spin on things, it still says that extremely little progress is being made.
Aero, can you explain exactly what role our foreign policy has played in the middle east. Since it apparently hasn't made them hate us, what has it done?

We will never be safe until we stop forming/training/funding these groups who we are apparently "fighting"

Here's some food for thought.
Canadian Muslim Plotted a Terrorists Attack in Canada, because Canadian Troops were in Afghanistan.
So being involved in the "correct" country and in the correct War doesn't stop you from being targeted.
