Go Back   Community > Society > Politics: Left, Right, and Center

Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Lightbulb Help Final Push to Impeachment

It’s time! ImpeachForPeace.org is traveling to Washington DC at the end of this month to deliver thousands of Do-It-Yourself Impeachment Memorials to key representatives in the House!

Support for impeachment is building. As of this writing, 14 reps are supporting Dennis Kucinich’s resolution to impeach Dick Cheney (H. Res. 333).

Even if you've sent them to your congressperson before, click here to send us your DIY Memorials before we go.

You may not realize that the only thing standing between where we are today and a nationally televised impeachment investigation is the House Judiciary passing this resolution, which is currently awaiting consideration in their committee. The head of this committee, John Conyers, has said recently that he supports the national impeachment movement.

On Friday, for the first time, a polling company asked Americans if they want Cheney impeached. A majority of 54%. Congressman John Conyers even cited it on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday.

All we need to push it over the edge is public support, and that’s where we come in.

Video of our trip will be posted on our website shortly upon our return.
We’ll let you know when it’s up!

Click here to be a part of this!

Here's a funny video about this unique strategy

On what charges?

I hope Sheehan unseats Pelosi. I feel Sheehan would be too incompetent to do anything, and I do not like Pelosi. So I sure hope Pelosi doesn't push to impeach Bush.

Not that I have to worry, though.

How about the unneccesary slaughter of over 70,000 iraqi people.
Impeachment...lets not stop there.

not to mention massacring the constitution and breaking laws that would send lesser people to prison.

But what's the point, he's out in a year anyway.

You can pin that on Bush?

As much as I think impeachment is beyond futile, you need to to come to terms that Congress has failed not only you idiotic lefties, but every citizen except that %5 that controls the majority of the money in America. America was never meant to be a complete democracy, but democratically elected officials were always meant to embody some form of the constituency that elected them. So sad that we have let our Congressmen off their leashes for so long.

Forget DIY shit. This isnt a democracy. Elect candidates that will actually get stuff done and wont worry about getting re-elected. Who knows, you might actually see progress getting accomplished and bloat and corruption might disappear overnight?

First of all...Im not an "idiotic lefty". If not Bush, I would pin it on whoever is responsible for fucking up intelligence that said they knew exactly where the wmd's were (Donald Rumsfeld) that ultimately pushed us into going to war. Also on whoever pushed it along the way (cheney). At the end of the day someone has to pay. And noone in that bulletproof administration has been accountable. You know who is paying for their fuckups right? Our soldiers and their families that "idiot right wingers" claim to support. Also the american taxpayer, the iraqi people we are slaughtering, the list goes on. Who benefits? The contractors that are attempting to rebuild iraq. Im sure that has nothing to do with why we are there lol. Its honestly the most backwards fucking shit I have come to understand. You dont have to try to explain to me what a democracy is. I would just like more people to be aware instead of just believing what multimillionaires tell them to. Try to fill americans with pride and say "win in iraq" etc. Fuck that shit. The longer we are there the more we lose. I mean when Rumsfeld goes on national television and explains in detail down to the storage shed or bunker where these weapons supposedly were, and it turns up to be not true, how can that not be a crime. Him or whoever gave him that info needs to be hung.

I hope the Dems try to impeach Bush. It would do wonders for GOP unity in '08.

Unfortunately, Pelosi and Reid are not stupid and both have said impeachment is off the table.

Fair enough, but I seriously doubt that the intelligence was completely false. While it is true that no WMDs will be found in Iraq, it is also true that Bush gave Saddam plenty of time to get them out of his country before the invasion.

I firmly believe that was the single worst mistake of Bush's entire career. The smoking gun was well within reach, but his glory he could have had left in a barrel of VX postmarked to some fundy Muslim country.

Great job, Bush.

Although if you are to believe in conspiracy theories that Bush is proxying daddy's war, such a move would have given dad plenty of fond memories of the clusterfuck that is Iraq, ensuring that the mission lasts for many years.

I like George Bush because more muslims have died during his time in office than any other time in recent history.
