You said you don't like it, well good for you. Montana militia groups don't like the government, thumbs up to them, lots of christians don't like homosexuals, sodomy, harry potter and many other things, congratulations to them. It's your life, they're your opinions, you are entitled to them.
And about the glorifying, with your terms, the glorification of rape, mutilation, and other acts have been around since day one of humanity, and fine art? Well I'll be damned if it doesn't have those same glorifying pictures riddled through out.
And what does this have to do with anything?
|
Nothing. It was an afterthought and a response to the only counterargument I can come up with to my own position.
I don't see what a bible has to do with anything, besides, given its implied purpose and intention, having segments I despise for the same reason I resent certain forms of guro, along with various other things, which do include high art. By problem I meant personal opposition.
I don't see the point of all this either. I was challenged on my opinion, I explained it in greater detail, and I get the feeling that people have a problem with it. As it's not being challenged on the basis of its premise, there is no argument regarding it that I can respond to. An idea being an element of human nature has nothing to do with my acceptance of it. Why my acceptance should be expected or be considered significant is beyond me.
Anyways, whatever, I'm going to bed.

Good question. That shit is fucking sick and twisted. If you're into that.... well then I don't even know what to say to you; also, ChickenOfDoom has probably said it better already.

From what I could gather, you seem unapproving of the forceful aspects of it, the taking of free will (i.e. rape). You speak of glorification, so are you talking about shock bands bands or visual kei? Explain further if you could.
You also said you condone shitting dick nipples, but you don't condone guro. They're one and the same so you're running around in a hypocritical fashion
As per you saying that your knowledge is incomplete of it all, you have to understand the origins of that which you resent. Being a more repressed and uniformed nation of people, things like guro came about as a way to express desires and fantasies that they couldn't do in the first place and wouldnt't be considered socially acceptable outside of a fantasy world. Rape, disfigurement, scat fetishes etc etc are common place in the realm of anime and fetish type adult videos. It's also the difference of ideology that they continue with, lacking the strict rules and justification of western type religion. You won't see breasts in kid shows in the western world, but they're a common sight in the east where it's not considered a taboo.
In a way it makes perfect sense. If you lived every day in a world where the people are almost identical in so many ways (straight black hair, similar body types, uniforms, facial structures etc etc), wouldn't you want to have some way of acting outside the norm, to establish a pseudo unique train of thought? It's why their exists social "cliques", groups of people with a like mind thusly giving birth to things such as Yankee style, Ganguro, and Fruits (fruits is an elaborate fashion style, not a happy slur for homosexuals).
If you would like some more easily digestable information and would prefer not to read and experience things in a more visual fashion, I point you to tv-links.co.uk, for a british show entitled "Japanorama".

Who controls the natural flow of the human populace? In nature when an animal is sick, it dies. What defines sickness? This could be anything, even sexual tendencies outside the "normal" mating ritual.
The point here since you can't seem to identify it, is the fact of where does this shit come from? To be sexually aroused through these types of fetishes I think is what Chicken was trying to get at.
Is it for me to decide what is acceptable and what isn't? No, but I see no harm in having an open discussion about the effects of this type of "art" (And I am using that term VERY loosely) on Anime as a whole.
So quoting Chicken, "Why does this shit exist?" Who the hell knows, but I certainly don't think that it is harmless. I don't question the drawing, I question the mind behind such an idea.

Re: Guro: wtf.
"I just feel strongly about what it seems to represent."
Okay?
"I I said resent. Hate implies a lack of tolerance, respect, and some other things."
k
"Don't you feel at least some resentment for people who accept ideals you despise"
Yes.
"Isn't purposefully seeking something out and feeling arousal towards it acceptance, at least on an emotional level?"
Acceptance, in spirituality, mindfulness, and human psychology, usually refers to the experience of a situation without an intention to change that situation. Acceptance does not require that change is possible or even conceivable, nor does it require that the situation be desired or approved by those accepting it. Indeed, acceptance is often suggested when a situation is both disliked and unchangeable, or when change may be possible only at great cost or risk. ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acceptance
okay, yes.
" How can you not feel negatively towards someone who accepts an ideal incompatible with what you feel strongly about?"
People have the right to think freely, thought crime=bad, difference of opinions.
Well, you're right though.
"I fully support and condone shitting dick nipples. My problem is with guro."
as Mahimaki said, shitting dick nipples is a part of guro

Makes much more sense than what chicken had said.
It exists, because things like this exist in human nature. It's a double bladed sword in a way. We can despise a depiction of bloodied bodies, dissection, or rape; But we also have to accept that it does indeed exist as a preference to people who aren't of (what anyone could really be) a normal mindset. It would take a (somewhat) disturbed mind to sit down and create something like that, but it's infinitely far better than having them act in a more physical sense of these actions ala serial killer-like.
So the way I see it, it's a better alternative to what they "could" be doing. Kind of like "cutters", who wish to cut down on the act of self mutilation (bad pun, don't mention it) by replacing a knife, razor, sharp implement with something like a red marker, toothbrush, or an ice cube.
E.] CB, I'd rep you if I could, but thanks for the clarifying post.
