Smile Best Website Building Program???

Ok boys, I have no job and hardly any cash and have a couple months before I go back to college. I'm thinking if I can maybe create a website that could generate some income it would be tizzight.

So, based on your guy's personal experience what would be the best program to use to make it? Keep in mind I am semi-literate in programming languages.

I'm thinking of maybe creating a site maybe with comics, videos, maybe links to popular torrents and shit. General funny stuff. I'll figure that out as I go along...

FrontPage

If you are a noob to HTML, use Frontpage. It is easy to use, and works like Word except that it does web pages.

I use it because coding in Notepad takes too much time.

You have to look up any things that you don't know, and if a tag only has a beginning tag ( <html> )and no end tag ( </html> ), you fuck up the whole thing.

So I use FrontPage, mainly for my eBay auctions, because it looks pretty fucking proffesional.

If i have any problems with it, I go into the code.

Frontpage has 4 modes (Code, Design, Code & Design, and Preview)

And you can make burned copies of it that actually work.

Flame away.

I do not recommend frontpage.....I have been in web design for four years now. I used to use golive but about 2 years ago I switched to dreamweaver and have never looked back. It generates some extra tags but nothing that can't be cleaned up. Now that I am doing more php/mySQL work I tend to be doing more code by hand in notepad however. I would tell you where you could get cs3 but I would prolly get banned.....................

Edit: BTW if you need any help with the site or anything just let me know...seems like an interesting project.

Put some Google Adsense adverts on the page if you want the site to make money.

I recommend Dreamweaver. It's been a while since I've done any webdesign (hopefully will try to get back into amateur web developing some day), but when I first started several years ago, I used Dreamweaver. I knew absolutely nothing about HTML or wed design, and after two months of playing around with Dreamweaver, I was making pretty decent websites. The learning curve isn't too steep if you put some effort into it.

I fully agree. HTML is so easy that you don't need to spend more than an hour looking over how to use it. If you get stuck on something with HTML, use another website as an example - they're made of it.

When I first started making websites I used dreamweaver (especially for forms and tables). Unfortunately, dreamweaver makes a lot of mistakes and assumptions. So I started picking apart the code that dreamweaver made for me.

So if you do use dreamweaver, just promise me that you'll learn what it is doing and why it's doing that. Read the code that it produces and try to understand it (it's not that hard at all). It will help you in the long run, trust me.
