Default Divorce

So my friend here on the base is getting divorced and it's really sad. She and her husband have been married for 13 years and they have 5 children and he's leaving her for another woman. She's been crying every day for the past week and I just don't know what to say to her. I've been bringing her cookies and stuff and inviting her over to my house, but nothing seems to lessen her pain. What's really strange is they seemed so happy together, but now she's been telling me all of this bad stuff that was happening in their marraige that I never would've guessed. Worse yet all of her other "friends" are shunning her as if her divorce is contagious or something.

So does anyone here have experience with this sort of thing? Is there anything I should do/shouldn't do for her?

Personally i would just leave her alone for a while to get herself together but make sure she knows that you will be there for her if she needs.

Also, don't forget to stress the concept of child support.

I can only imagine how much it might hurt to lose someone you've been with for so long.
I know in the grande scheme of things 13 years isnt that much, but it's one fuck of a long time to live with someone, so once they're gone, it's going to slam you like a bitch.

Ask her if she wants to crash on your couch sometimes. The daytime can be okay, but sleeping alone in the empty bed at night that you've previously shared with a person for 13 years is really painfull.

You could help her move on. Ie, get rid of all his stuff, help her chose her own things, keep her mind occupied.

When my ex left, the appartment felt so big and lonely, I found filling it with shiny junk and stuff I'd allways wanted to helped.
