Phreaking the Electronic Town Hall - H. Ross Perot
PHREAKING THE TOWNHALL ELECTRIC

If you still have doubts about the fascist nature of
H(itler) Ross Perot go to your nearest library and read the
June 25, 1992 article "A Visit with Ross Perot" by Garry
Wills in The New York Review of Books. Wills documents
Perot's past covert actions, connections with the FBI, use of
police, disregard for the Bill of Rights, his relationship
with Nixon, Perot's army of D.C. lobbyists, and the longtime
planned roots of his "spontaneous" presidential campaign.
But beyond issues of Perot's success or failure there is
evidence that our nation will evolve toward some sort of
Orwellian electronic democracy. Its easy to imagine Perot
building such an electronic communication system while his
funds sit stashed in a "blind trust" (yeah right, just as
Bush's funds sat in a petroleum "blind trust" during the Gulf
War).
There is a lot of random discussion occurring concerning
the coming of some sort of amorphus "Electronic Townhall"
that would revolutionize democracy in Amerika. Currently
there are a number of possible versions of H(emeroid) Ross
Perot's Electronic Townhall. One version envisions a network
of modems and computers communicating with Derr Fuhrer Perot
at his electronic perch in D.C. Another would simply use
telephones in place of computers. And yet another version
would use some sort of "interactive Television" linked with
the White House. Whatever the specific technology were to be
used the "Electronic Townhall" would supposedly be a means of
the allowing the average American have input on any issue of
national importance.
Just what the hell is this clown talking about? Of course
it is obvious that this fool has no specific plan, he's just
another billionaire wanker trying to mumble things that might
make voters happy. A strategy equivalent to Reagan's Star
Wars smoke screen. But there is some evidence that such a
system may actually be implemented in our lifetime, which
raises the question of what would happen if some fool does
come along and use such a system?
This would be a phreaks dream come true! There is no
system using phonelines that could be developed which
couldn't be successfully hacked. One would assume that a
system similar to ANI would be used to assure one man one
vote, or that citizens might be required to enter their
social security number when calling (or perhaps the bar code
number from the back of their heads). Whatever system they
used wouldn't matter, phreadom phighters across the U.S.
would render it obsolete through hacking the system.
Can anyone out there imagine a method of user
identification for an electronic townhall that could not be
simply hacked by thirteen year olds across the fruited
planes? I suppose there is the distinct probability that it
won't matter how hacked the system will be if a Perotesq
president is in control. Such a totalitarian figure would
simply alter the results of the Townhall at the receiving end
to suit their political needs.
There are already members of the phreak community who have
infiltrated the Perot campaign and have assumed prominent
positions working as advisors and technicians in his division
of telecampaigning. These technicians report that contrary
to many of the reports in the press the Perot campaign has no
specific plan for his Townhall program, but he is
entertaining a variety of proposals. Rest assured that our
brothers and sisters working within the campaign are closely
monitoring each of these suggestions, and taking note of
specific weaknesses of each system for future use.
Remember, when you hear Perotidiots humming about
electronic democracy they are witlessly worshiping Big
Brother and a world that only phreaks can save us from.
