What to do About Fienstein's Bomb Amendment
Dianne Feinstein's amendment to the defense bill that would force the
government to burn books that deal with bomb-making and to imprison
anyone selling such information is currently being reviewed by the
judiciary committee. If you want to try to help kill this amendment
while it's still in committee, here are the names and numbers of the
senators on the committee who you can write to.
By the way, our senators don't read everything they get, but they have
aides who do. These aides keep scorecards of what people are interested
in. In the scoring system, letters and telexes count the most, then
come phone calls, then FAXes, and at the very, very bottom of the
scale, e-mail. (e-mail scores the worst because they can't tell if it's
from a constituent or if the same person is sending multiple e-mails.)
If you really want to have an effect, send a letter.
